Cleveland Indians (65-93) Vs Boston Red Sox (91-67) At Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts Thursday October 1st, 2009
Carlos Carrasco (0-3, 9.00) Vs Jon Lester (14-8, 3.52) Final Score: Boston 3, Cleveland 0 W- Jon Lester (15-8) L- Carlos Carrasco (0-4) S- Jonathan Papelbon (38)
Baseballs:
**Jon Lester- It hardly seems fair that when the Red Sox go out and spend money on free agents, they can also draft young kids like Lester. One of the best lefties in the game, he went 6 1/3 innings of shutout ball, giving up 2 hits, he walked 1, struck out 7 and now has a 3.41 ERA.
**Jacoby Ellsbury- Jacoby went 3-5 at the plate, he stole his 68Th base of the season, he also was caught for the 11Th time. Ellsbury is now hitting .301.
**Alex Gonzales- Alex finished the night 2-3 with a walk, he is hitting .239.
**Jason Bay- Jason finished the night 2-4 and drove in his 116Th RBI of the season. Jason is hitting .266.
**Victor Martinez- Victor came back to haunt his former team, he went 2-4 with a double and is now hitting .302.
**Daniel Bard- Daniel threw 2/3 of an inning, earning his 13Th hold of the season and he now has a 3.75 ERA.
**Billy Wagner- Bill threw a scoreless 8Th inning, earning his 5Th hold of the year and he now has a 1.80 ERA.
**Jonathan Papelbon- Can't he close his mouth when he pitches? Anyway, he finished up the game by throwing a scoreless 9Th inning, earning his 38Th save of the year. He struck out 2 and now has a 1.88 ERA.
**Matt Laporta- Matt went 1-3 with a double at the plate and is hitting .269.
**Lou Marson- Lou went 1-3 with a double and is hitting .246.
**Jensen Lewis- Jensen threw 1 2/3 innings of scoreless ball, he walked 2, struck out 2 and now has a 4.48 ERA.
**Rafael Perez- Perez threw 2 scoreless innings and he now has a 6.65 ERA.
**Jose Veras- Jose threw a scoreless 8Th inning, he walked 1, struck out 1 and now has a 5.22 ERA.
1/2 Baseball, 1/2 Goofball:
**Carlos Carrasco- Carlos lost his 4Th game of the season, but he left early after getting hit by a ball. He threw 3 1/3 innings, giving up 3 runs (3 earned), he walked 1, struck out 1 and now finished the season at 8.87 ERA.
Goofballs:
**Indians Offense- Well, Hafner had the night off, so did Cabrera, although he is hurt, but Choo wasn't and instead of putting Choo in as a DH, we get Kelly "K" Shoppach. Wow, 0 runs, 3 hits, 1 walk, 10 strikeouts. We just surrendered to the Red Sox.
Indians record after 159 games in 2009: 65-94 Indians record after 159 games in 2008: 79-80 Indians record in one run games in 2009: 19-20 Indians Quality Starts in 2009: 71
On Deck:
I guess this was the C-Team the Red Sox faced tonight, very frustrating because all I want to see is this team fight back and end the season on a positive light. I don't see that happening with these lineups. I expected Hafner to be benched, so why bench Choo? Sure, he pinch hit later in the game, but it doesn't matter, by that time the game was over with. So the Indians have been shut out on back to back games, and which asks the question does Wedge even care after he knows he is fired at the end of the season? Think about that when you see these horrible lineups. Another game on Friday evening, starting at 7:10 PM, airing on STO with Indians On deck starting at 6:30 PM. Jeremy Sowers (6-10, 5.09) takes the start. He will be opposed by Daisuke Matsuzaka (3-6, 6.08). The game will air on WTAM 1100-AM so let's get this win. |
