Baseballs:
**Victor Martinez- Victor caught for the first time since June 13Th, and he was right at home, he finished the evening 2-3 with 2 walks, and drove in his 24Th run. Victor is now hitting .278 and he will be on the bench tomorrow.
**Asdrubal Cabrera- Cabrera went 2-4 and drove in his 30th run of the season. Asdrubal is now hitting .232 which is amazing considering he was hitting in the .180s when he came back from Buffalo.
**Shin-Soo Choo- Choo extended his hitting streak to 9 games and finished 2-4, driving in his 45Th run of the season. Choo is hitting .291 this season.
**Jamey Carroll- Jamey got the start at 3rd base and he responded going 2-5 at the plate with a double, his 10Th of the season. Jamey is now hitting .274 this season.
**Jhonny Peralta- Jhonny had a good night, he went 1-3 with 2 walks and scored 3 runs, including driving in his 78Th run of the season. Peralta is now hitting .278 this season.
**Indians Offense- Everyone reached base and only Franklin Gutierrez did not get a hit. 9 runs, 12 hits, 7 walks, including 6 runs in the 5Th inning, with 0 outs, now that was the amazing stat. Overall, they had some good at bats against the Royals pitching.
**Anthony Reyes- He would have earned his 5Th win, but he hurt his elbow. So Reyes only worked 3 innings, gave up 1 hit, 0 runs, 1 walk, and 1 strike out. Reyes now has a 2.78 ERA and hopefully his elbow will be fine this coming week in his next start.
**Edward Mujica- Earned his 2Nd win of the season, throwing 2 scoreless innings, not walking anyone and striking out 1. Mujica now has a 6.75 ERA.
**Rafael Betancourt & Masahide Kobayashi- Each threw a scoreless 8Th and 9Th innings respectively. Betancourt now has a 4.96 ERA, which is amazing considering how high his ERA has been and Kobayashi now has a 4.19 ERA.
**Jose Guillen- Guillen finished the evening 2-4 with 2 doubles and he drove in 2 runs, giving him 86 RBIs this season. Guillen is now hitting .252.
**David DeJesus- Drove in the first Royals run, giving him 61 RBIs and after a 1-4 evening, David is hitting .296 this season.
**Kila Ka'aihue- Kila finished the evening 1-4 and picked up his first Major League hit. Kila is now hitting .250 this season.
**Yasuhiko Yabuta- 2 scoreless innings, he did give up 2 hits, but both were in that 5Th inning. Yasuhiko now has a 5.13 ERA.
**Jimmy Gobble & Devon Lowery- Each threw a scoreless 7Th and 8Th inning respectively. Gobble now has a 10.87. Lowery walked 1 and struck out 2 and now has a 0.00 ERA.
Goofballs:
**Brandon Duckworth- Brandon had a rough 5Th inning, his overall numbers were 4 + innings, giving up 5 runs (5 earned), he walked 4 and struck out 1. Duckworth now has a 6.60 ERA.
**Joel Peralta- Joel didn't retire a batter, he gave up 3 hits and 3 runs (3 earned), and now has a 6.30 ERA.
**Jeff Fulchino- Gave up another run in the 9Th inning and walked 1, he now has a 8.31 ERA.
**Tom Mastny- I truly wish the Indians did not call him up, he gave up 3 runs in 2 innings of work, 3 of those runs came in the 7Th inning. Tom now has a 11.15 ERA.
Indians record after 139 games in 2008: 68-71 Indians record after 139 games in 2007: 81-58 Indians record in one run games in 2008: 12-15 Indians Quality Starts in 2008: 73
On Deck:
The Indians have now won 10 games on the road in a row, and they are just 4 away from breaking their all time franchise record for most consecutive wins, which was I believe in 1920, so it's possible to try and do that. Which means the win must continue to come. Tomorrow evening is game 2, starting at 7:10 PM, shown on STO. Of course, Indians On Deck starts at 6:30 PM. Zach Jackson (0-1, 6.00) will take on Gil Meche (10-10, 4.07). Of course the game will be on the radio on WTAM 1100-AM if you can't tune in to the game. Go Tribe. |
